In "Symbols of She" contest, I saw the opportunity to bring some watercolors together in a new way to combine some ideas. I worked with the colors of primordial elements.The main pattern of the mandala was inspired by the symbol of the "Spiral Goddess" from pagan religions and also the Snake Goddess, an ancient statue found in Knossos, Greece.Both have raised hands and exposed breasts, fearlessly symbolizing feminine strength. Each of them holds a heart, a symbol of Cups in the Gypsy tarot deck:The Cup symbolizes the Water Element and represents feelings, the feminine side, emotions, love, and fertility. I associated this element with the feminine uterus:a cup carrying the primordial energy of creation, symbolized by the universe within it.This energy is cyclical, like life, nature, and the spiral itself.I wanted to represent this cyclical energy through the blue hands. Hindu gods were symbolized by the blue skin color because blue, to them, is the color of the infinite. In our hands, there are points of subtle energy that receive and give energy.These hands give and receive energy in an infinite flow:depositing the energy of creation into the sacred chalice, channeled by each feminine part within us, represented by the woman with raised and united hands forming a vulva.This bring cosmic energy to all its energetic points, and in the heart (the feminine realm), it transforms into an inner star that reverberates, shining for the world. The energy leaving the heart in the form of a star (another symbol in tarot cards associated with the feminine) reminds me of the feminine energy of compassion, which comes into this material world to transform and bring a bit of the divine that inhabits the higher spheres, elevating every being it touches. The symbol of compassion is also cups, it is also chalices. This energy returns to the hands of creation, completing its cycle, only to begin again. Our internal feminine power is more potent than we imagine.
