My mother died on January 15th 2019. After she died the funeral home took her fingerprints and sent them to me. To me the fingerprints looked like stars in the universe. I believe that we are all made from the stars and when we die we go back to them. On January 6th 2022, my birthday, I was thinking about my mother a lot, so I wrote her a letter. This image was taken from her right thumb print and I wrote the letter along the lines of that fingerprint. If you zoom in, you will be able to read my letter to her. Our relationship had a lot of conflict and this very personal and intimate letter to her, reflects that.
